Max is a young, handsome,
energetic boy. When you first meet him he looks very
healthy, but his smile and lovable personality mask
a lot of pain. Max has severe hip dysplasia in both
hips, a common ailment for Golden Retrievers, making
it difficult for him to walk. He falls down when he
tries to walk on any surface that is not carpeted.
Even though he loves to swim, he can’t right now
because he cannot even step out of a pool, he gets
to the step and just sits there.
From what we can
see, Max has never had the chance at a normal
life;
he has never gotten to run, play fetch, or play
tug-of-war like he would love to, the pain from his
hip dysplasia is too great.
There is hope for Max, though. Surgery can repair
his problems, but we need your help. Max has had the
first of two extensive and expensive surgeries. Your
help will allow us to complete his course of
treatment and help him to a normal, happy, long
life.
